Birding by Kayak with the Backyard Bird Shop

September 22nd, 2024
9:00AM - 12:00PM
@ 99W Bridge Boat Launch

Join Tualatin Riverkeepers as we paddle along the Tualatin River toward the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. We'll search for resident birds using the river as a migration corridor and rest stop. The autumn migration season stretches from mid-August to early December, with songbirds peaking in September and October. We’ll observe the many varieties of birds passing through our area and learn about the stopping-off habitats that appeal to them on the way to their tropical wintering grounds. Get close to the resident great blue herons; we may even spot the more elusive Green Herons! No experience is necessary.

Space is limited, and reservations are required. Personal flotation devices must be worn on paddle trips. TRK trips may be canceled due to severe weather (lightning, flooding, ice, etc.) but will often take place in the rain. Please dress accordingly. We request that you arrive 30 minutes early.

Double kayaks can be rented for use on the trip for $50, single kayaks for $40.

Please review the General Paddle Trip Information sheet before the paddle trip.
