Learn the basics of canoeing on the calm waters of the Tualatin River!
In this class, you’ll practice essential skills, including how to safely get in and out of a canoe from shore, paddle straight, turn, back up, and stop. You’ll have plenty of time to build confidence as you practice these techniques.
This class is designed for individuals and pairs. Solo participants will be paired with another registrant or the instructor to ensure two people paddle each canoe. Canoes, paddles, and life jackets are provided.

What to Know:
Meet at Tigard’s Cook Park Boat Ramp.
Dress for the weather: wear clothes and shoes that can get wet, bring a sun hat, sunglasses, and a water-resistant jacket.
Pack snacks, water, and sunscreen — but please leave valuables at home.
