History and Future of the Tualatin River

Help introduce people to the Tualatin River! Learn the skills needed to be a Canoe & Kayak Paddle Trip Volunteer.

Our summer staff volunteer paddle trip leaders are the heart of TRK trips and tours, using their paddling skills and passion for the river to inspire others to enjoy the recreational and educational opportunities that the river provides. Volunteers ensure that participants have a safe and enjoyable time on the river by serving as ambassadors for our mission – to protect, restore and enjoy the Tualatin River.

Our basic paddle volunteer training includes a classroom session on what volunteers do, a pool session to practice basic water safety and rescues, a First Aid & CPR-class, and two additional classroom sessions to learn about the Tualatin River’s natural and cultural history.
