Balm Grove Planting in partnership with Friends of Trees and Clean Water Services

Tualatin Riverkeepers is partnering with Friends of Trees and Clean Water Services to complete ongoing restoration at a very unique site near Forest Grove! This was once the site of the Balm Grove Dam which was removed in late 2022.

Friends of Trees is holding a planting in February and in March, Tualatin Riverkeepers will follow up with a mulching event!

You can register for the FOT's planting here:

"Your help is needed to help plant native trees and shrubs following the removal of the Balm Grove Dam a few miles Northwest of Forest Grove. This planting is in partnership with Clean Water Services, who has been working with Tree for All partners to remove this dam and improve fish passage in Gales Creek since 2016. Your support is crucial to the success of this project -- thank you for considering signing-up!

Please arrive by 8:45am to sign-in and be assigned a planting crew. The planting starts at 9:00am. We provide gloves, tools, and planting guidance, as well as breakfast snacks and coffee/tea/hot chocolate -- all you need to do is show up dressed for the weather wearing sturdy shoes or boots, and be ready to have fun!"
