As part of the Urban Growth Boundary expansion project, Beaverton is currently creating the Cooper Mountain Community Plan (CMCP) for development of new housing around the Cooper Mountain Nature Park. Included in this project is the expansion of the nature park, however there are not specific areas that have been set aside to be incorporated into the park in the current preferred approach. Including the park expansion in the planning of the development is essential to protecting the diverse ecosystems of the Cooper Mountain area.
Tualatin Riverkeepers is supporting the Cooper Mountain Nature Park Group, a group of passionate residents in the area who are pushing to get the park expanded by about 200 acres and protect the valuable ecosystems around it. We need public support of this in order to succeed.
